Some people forget, Jesus did say to help the poor, not bankrupt the poor.
Social programs are to help the poor, but they are free to some and people are jealous they don’t get the same giveaways.
Throughout the Scriptures, virtually every story told by Jesus admonishes us to see to the needs of the poor and vulnerable among us. Instead, Trump told the crowd of cheering evangelicals that he would always defend those who use religion to discriminate.

The Bible clearly tells individual Christians to care for widows, orphans, etc. There's not a single word in the Bible about doing it with other people's money.

CPT Mike Cunningham - the tithe, the 10% went to the Church which was the government, it supported the Synagogue and the priests temple guards etc. On top of the tithe were offerings for the poor. If the 10% helped the poor and the government took care of the poor why did poor people beg in the street? Liberals who haven't read or understand the context of the Bible but quote it are humorous. The poor WORKED. Fields were not cleared of grain at harvest time and the poor gleaned, or finished harvesting the fields.

CPT Mike Cunningham - Gosh I feel cheated, I never was taught "...Republicans have demonized the poor and made idols of the rich and taught their followers to hate the govt. " at Republican School. I guess I should get my money back.

MSgt Michael Bischoff - judge with a broad brush do we? I know a lot of Churches that do it right. Read "Have a Little Faith".
