You're fooling yourself if you think any past president called ALL of the families of fallen soldiers. But, I agree that this should be left to each president as a personal matter, not thrown out into the court of public opinion.

Blog: Obama sends form letter to family of fallen SEAL Team 6 member (Update)
Logan's son, USMC Cpl. Joseph D. Logan, was killed Jan. 19, 2012, along with five other men when the helicopter they were in crashed.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying Obama or any president called all the families. Bush and Obama also wrote letters when calls weren't made or they were at Dover when the remains arrived.

No one said that Obama called every single family. That's all he would have been doing if he did. But Trump is saying that he calls every single family (which there are less than when Obama was President).
He just has to find some way to make his ego feel better and it's really sad.

When Trump got questioned by the reporter about his claim, Trump admitted that he actually had no idea if Obama had called or not. That's the real problem with Trump. He will say anything to make himself look better or attack Obama, knowing he has no idea if his claim is true or not. He just makes shit up and hopes no one will check, or even if they do check, he knows the correction never gets the same attention as the false claim.
Trump does this instinctively. During the campaign, when the debate dates were released, Trump didn't like that one went up against an NFL game. So Trump says "the NFL sent me a letter saying they didn't like that date either". The thing is, he just pulled that lied out of his ass. The NFL said they sent no letter to Trump and had absolutely no discussion with his campaign about the debate date. He just makes up complete lies as naturally as he breathes. The crowd at his inauguration was way bigger than Obamas--no, not by a long shot. His electoral college victory was the largest margin in history--no, Obama, Reagan and Bush all had larger. Yet he repeated that lie over and over again. It's really pathetic and a bad personality flaw for a US president.

He's the current POTUS and all the venting and scandal the media can provide and spin won't change that. At age 70 I'd guess he's fairly set in his ways and nobody is going to change him. People are certainly free to disagree with his words and deeds but again, it won't change anything. At age 60 I've figured out what's worth fretting over, and what's worth the effort to attempt to change. The rest that fails that test is just baggage that I choose not to carry. If we did A - B comparisons of all former Presidents we would find many things about each one that we find fault with. We might also find things that some find fault in and other's do not. Nobody is perfect even though some might think so. History will judge him, just as it has judged previous Presidents, just as it will judge each of us.
Who is Popovich? Didn't see his name in article and am not up on name recognition outside the mainstream.

CMSgt Virgil Horsley - Thanks Virgil. I don't keep up with sports much, other than watching NFL games on TV. It's hard to have a home team with the Titans being the nearest team. They did make it to SB in their first year and lost by about 1 foot to Rams in SB XXXIV. Not much of a team since then. Wife is from NE so I'm stuck with Patriots (or the doghouse). Appreciate the info. Will

CMSgt Virgil Horsley - I can say I've been to a MLB game, 2 in fact even if they were 50 years ago, 67 Yanks vs. Tigers, and Astros vs. Cards, that's the extent of my pro sports presence and I think the decent seats we had along the baseline were probably around $4, as compared to a few hundred $ now, I would like to catch a NHL game and my son is trying to get me to check out a Predators game
