What? You're surprised that someone would write a hit piece about Ike? Cheap shots get more "clicks" than ordinary journalism. This is more about the writer's need to be noticed than anything else.

A pretty bad title. Click bait. Not really anything dramatic. Nor anything we already didn't know about him. He succeeded as he was a great organizer and had great forward vision. He could see (either with Marshall's help or on his own) where Europe post-war was headed and he lead accordingly. Every book about him bears this out. So "revelations" that he was picked ahead of those with combat experience are already known. Nothing new.
