This might be fake news. Jason La Canfora, the one who spoke with Kaepernick, said that standing during the anthem didn't come up in their conversation. Kaepernick might have said this somewhere else, but in the article, AP is reporting that CBS said that Kaepernick told La Canfora that he'd stand during anthems if he could get a chance to play, and that string is just a little too thin for me to trust.

La Canfora is denying that the rat said he would stand. I think Kapernick is using this article as a probe. Both have deniability to save face.
