What irks me about this whole deal is the fact that the media is dividing our nation enough already, now our nation's past-times are adding fuel to the flame. Not only that, but who do our children look up to? Regardless of who should they be looking up to (that is another discussion itself), they are looking to sports figures as role models. I heard on the news the other day of a child being written up by a teacher for taking a knee during the pledge. The pledge?! The one thing that states verbally your dedication to your nation and country. Why are we trying to instill anti-patriotism in our next generation? Why is this being promoted? I have my own beliefs on that answer, but it should not be allowed.
I was at Walmart last night on my way home from work and I saw a guy wearing a shirt that said "If this flag offends you, I'll help you pack!" I wanted to thank him. Heck I won't just help you pack, I'll bring the boxes and tape!! The NFL and anyone else out there in the entertainment industry need to realize their political opinions do not belong on public display. I say this only because we do not watch football or any other sport or entertaining movie to hear about your political views. We watch it for the sport, for the movie, for the fun and happiness that industry brings us.
I cannot help but wonder how many of them would continue their kneeling for their "beliefs" if really put to the test. Are they truly that into it that they would defend their stance or is it just for the media's attention? I'm glad the ratings have fallen. Not because I am not a fan, and not because they are disrespecting what me and my brothers and sisters in arms do daily, i.e. protect that precious freedom of theirs. I am glad the ratings have fallen because of everyone who came before me to give them that freedom. The ones that paid the ultimate sacrifice. The ones that spent hours, days, months, and years away from their families to die in a foreign country for posterity sake. The ones that never got to play catch with their son or see their daughter's wedding. The ones that left a wife who was carrying his child and never returned. That is why I am glad that their ratings are failing and I hope that they come to their senses and apologize on national television soon or that their ratings crash so hard it isn't worth the money to continue the NFL. Extreme? Maybe. But if we aren't extreme in speaking up about this they will become extreme in abusing their freedoms and we will all lose freedoms in the long run.

Who would want those so called professional ball players to be role models?? I mean seriously, Do you really want to be a wife beating, dog killing drug addict?

SGT Jim Arnold - Exactly. I think there are far more better people out there that should be role models. Granted not everyone in the sports profession is that way but still I know what you mean.

"For the ones that never got to play catch with their son..."
Wow, that is powerful. Right to the core. Lump in my throat.
