I get that people are "triggered" by these monuments...but one of the most dangerous things you can do is try to forget or rewrite history. Instead, if they're going to remove them, I wish some city or state would open a museum with all the statues in remembrance of the Civil War and Confederate veterans.

PO3 Steven Sherrill
Norah Julmis That is a good idea. The only way to prevent history from being repeated is to learn from it. Even if it means learning about things that turn ones stomach.

With budget shortfalls as it is what a waste of money to remove something that stood for years and did no harm. Good or bad depending on You reception its still a part of History and erasing History doesn't change it or what has happened. Burying You head in the sand however not only ignores the past but makes it far more likely though that ignorance that the mistakes or the past will be repeated or perhaps worse will happen. As a "Yankee" from the North East I'm was never offended by those statues and still aren't, it was still a part of the Nations Past History and I find those that place no value on the History of the nation to be offensive !
