Actually, that makes me feel better. Michael Bennett is the one of the Seahawks that has been leading the bench-sitting during the anthem, so I was ready to believe it. I needed someone to point that out to me, so thank you for that.

SSgt Christopher Brose I am glad I could help. I had seen that photo before several years ago, so I figured something fishy was going on.

Kapernick has been protesting for 2 years
Black on black crime isn't protested because the people whom may commit those crimes get convictions and see jail time
The other players did nothing until a certain president said they should be fired

In fairness, he didn't say they SHOULD be fired, he said, "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that SOB off the field right now. He is fired. He's fired!'"
While it was a brash and impolitic statement, it wasn't an outline of support for a policy of firing all NFL players who disrespect the flag. He was saying, wouldn't you like to see this happen one time? And a lot of us frankly would love to see it happen one time. It was red meat for people at a political rally.

Implotic isn't the correct description, he as a government official suggested that people should be fired for expressing their forst amendment rights,

It's embarrassing now, of course, but that moment was a snapshot of my emotional state, and some of the best lessons in life are taught with pain and/or embarrassment. The lesson for me was don't stay up late surfing the web. (I have trouble sleeping, trouble which is helped by medication I get from the VA... when they decide to send it on time. Last night's post happened after two nights of being without that medication.) I was up far longer than normal, operating on sleep deficit, and I'm pretty sure my critical thinking skills were compromised.
