Good suggestion for interviews. Very few companies still initiate a professional dress code (outside banking and law firms) so hopefully one doesn't have to spend a ton of money on dress wear.

They have a new dress code option now between Business Casual and Business Professional. It requires leather dress shoes, button up shirts, dress pants preferred but they will accept nice and not work dockers that are pressed, tie optional. They call it Business Casual Professional. Because some of the youngsters were starting to slack off with Business Casual.

Totally agree! I think the difference in generations in the workplace helped fuel that "Business Casual Professional" term. Thanks for sharing!

I'm old school, and fully expect to get thrashed for the following. But the first suit my Dad got me was identical to the plaid one sleepy brown wears at the start of Outkast's "I Like the Way You Move." So I am recovering from emotional abuse.
There is business attire:
_For men - Dark gray or Blue Suit, subdued fabric pattern and tie (NOT Sport coat, dress shirt, tie and Slacks) The coat only comes off in your own office. The tie is only loosened at home, or if someone needs a tourniquet. No looney Tunes characters or fish ties. Dress shirts are white or light blue
_For women - Hard to define but I know it when I see it. Generally a suit with matching Jacket and skirt that extend below the knees or matching pants, a blouse and a costume jewelry necklace.
_Business casual - is the beginning of the end of civilization
There is work attire;
_Garments intended to take the normal abuse expected from certain, inherently messy types of work, generally but not necessarily associated with blue collar work. Some professionals may occasionally remove their coat/jacket and don a lab coat or similar protective garment.
