That is a good question since the in the beginning it was know as the 'Korean Conflict'.
Neither side ever fulfilled the terms of the Armistice.
So what is the current "true" status?
How can we be at war with them when we technically never ended the war with them which in reality was a conflict in the first place?

Exactly. I think the Korean people, North and South, have a better understanding of history than Americans today. The war never officially ended. The Armistice has been violated multiple times by DPRK or ROK forces either in the DMZ or disputes in the Yellow Sea. To an isolated dictatorship, every threat or hateful statement from the leader of another country is used by the NK regime as propaganda scare tactic on the N Korean people that other countries want to see them destroyed. This hope of a military coup or up rising by the populace is a false presumption as long as their dictator continues to give them a bigger threat, a more dangerous enemy.

Yes, or the UN is. It was a cease fire in place. Both sides withdrew 2,000 meters and that was it.
