I found the areas of insomnia, creativity, and detailed storytelling very interesting. I read a good book on bipolar disorder called Touched with Fire: Manic-Depressive Illness and the Artistic Temperament by Kay Redfield Jamison. It touched on some of those very things.

SGT (Join to see) Although it is an older book as you noticed, I think it is an interesting perspective on the relationship between mania/depression and creativity. She co-wrote the major medical text Manic-Depressive Illness, which is still highly used. She discusses in great depth the relationship between mental illness and creativity in writing, music, and art. I do not think she is saying all geniuses are "mad", but she does show there is an overlap between those who are very creative and those with mood disorders.
