It's good to see some compassion and common sense. Many TG serve honorably in various capacities. It's foolish to discount that just to appease a few groups that don't understand the manpower issues. I have no problem with TG serving as long as it does not impact readiness and budgets. Concerns about not being able to deploy during treatment, psychological issues, and additional funds should certainly be considered. Not just because of the direct impact but the morale concerns of non TG's that may perceive it as special treatment. Especially if they have to spend more time deployed due to gaps with TG being able to deploy. Also, if it means less money for equipment, training ammo etc. Hopefully this will come to a reasonable conclusion.

Good on the president for leaving this open for the subject matter experts in his cabinet to decide. "...As part of the implementation plan, the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, shall determine how to address transgender individuals currently serving in the United States military. Until the Secretary has made that determination, no action may be taken against such individuals under the policy set forth in section 1(b) of this memorandum."-section 3 of memorandum. A lot of the hype behind this could have been sated if people would just do some research for themselves. President Trump wasn't aiming for an outright ban on trans service. He simply wants to hold off recruitment efforts until the Pentagon study concluded in order to ensure readiness, moral, and all those fun things to do with unit cohesion aren't adversely affected by integration of openly trans individuals. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me. No shame in being overweight, however, it affects readiness so it's not allowed in the military. Likewise, I interpret these efforts as more precautionary due to concerns about the surgical transition process affect on readiness. Provided the Pentagon's study concludes favorably, this should all blow over. For now, it's a game of wait and see.
