Sgt Wayne Wood That's it!!! No more statues for anyone! The only statues that will continue to be allowed will be the white marble headstones for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending this nation! All others will be torn down and replaced with parks bearing no name. There will be no grass in these parks so as not to offend those offended by grass stains. There will be no trees in these parks lest the allergy sufferers be incensed. There will be no playgrounds in these parks so nobody gets injured and sues. There will be no restrooms as restrooms presume gender and thus must be banned. So they will be torn down and turned into dirt. The dirt will then be sealed in glass so that nobody gets dirt on their clothes while visiting the parks.

I'm sorry I'm just not caring anymore bothsides are driving me crazy over this trying argue over statues at the end of the day it's not the statues that matter it's the values they supposedly represent as long as those survive that's what is important.

PFC (Join to see) - The statues referred to in the article are statues that are all over the downtown Rapid City area. There is a statue for each president. Being the closest "city" to Mount Rushmore, it is apropos for Rapid City to put up statues for all the presidents. They don't idolize the President's, they simply acknowledge the fact that this individual was at one point in United States History elected POTUS.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - yeah your right or to honor a specific a contribution made by them to say financial donations to a school or signing off on a legislature or something that made programs easier accessible just like Roosevelt highschool represents Theodore Roosevelt's contribution in advocating a need for high level education in Hawaii and there by establishing one of the first high schools he didn't necessarily have a direct influence but he approved the idea of the need for more schools in Hawaii.

Take it down, Sgt Wayne Wood. He's much less deserving of memorialization via statue than many whose statues have already been removed.

LTC Stephen C. They have all the President's there. It is not about politics, it is about history. Regardless of how good or bad a person, or how good or bad a president the individual was, they all were president. The statue is not a memorial to Clinton, rather it is part of a collection. Never break up a set. POLITICAL CORRECTNESS HAS TO STOP!!

I'm sick of the PC business as well, PO3 Steven Sherrill. It's a blessing I'm retired. Otherwise, people would only be able to visit me in the USDB at Fort Leavenworth.

Here is an idea... Auction off the first swing of the sledge hammer and sell tickets $10 to take a whack at this statue. Of course you get to keep any part you knock off. See how I did that, make the parts a souvenir so the city doesn't have to pay to clean up the mess.
