The hard truth? What as crock of bullshit. Neither I nor anyone I know alive today had anything to do with genocide of native Americans, slavery, Jim Crow laws, or any other shameful part of this country's history. And most if not all people alive today who buy into this bullshit were not victims of any of it. And I'm getting tired of ignorant assholes using today's standards to unfairly criticize our founding fathers and other historical figures for owning slaves without taking into account the culture they lived in at that time. So get over it, quit trying to use it as a crutch, and get on with your life and be thankful you live in the greatest country in the world. Because if you aren't thankful for that, then feel free to take a flying $*%# to some other country and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

SSG Jessica Bautista - Do you not believe we aren't the greatest nation? Please tell me another nation where you have the freedoms you have here. Do we have faults? Absolutely, but we have mechanisms in place to be able to rectify these faults. Do we use them? Most of the time no. We are to busy complaining and not acting. We have become weak and afraid to make hard choices to correct the issues of today. Just my 2 cents.

SSG Mike Wyche Don't get me wrong, I was born here, I live here, I served here, I'll likely die here. I will defend the only country I call home. However, my question has merit. What specifically is our country the "greatest" at?

SSG Jessica Bautista - Providing the freedom to try and make ourselves the greatest. Number one in lists does not necessarily make you the greatest. We have more advanced medicine than any where in the world. Others may have it cheaper but they copied the techniques from us. Why do you feel we are not the greatest? Please provide examples. Not trying to incite, only to understand.

SSG Jessica Bautista - Greatest in what? Just off the top of my head: Individualism and liberty to succeed or fail based solely on your own efforts; a form of government that has never been overthrown and transitions peacefully on a scheduled basis; scientific and medical breakthroughs; inventions; military accomplishments; the kindhearted and giving nature of the American people whenever there is a catastrophe anywhere in the world; landing on the moon; our justice system; our healthcare system; our infrastructure; our rights, including the freedom of expression and the right to keep and bear arms. I'm sure I've probably overlooked some. Why don't you go ask some of the millions of people who want to leave their native countries and move here every year. Or go live in one of their countries for a while to experience the difference.

The real problem with racism is not racism itself, is the idiots who represent both sides of this story.

White supremacists no more define "whites" in the U.S. than Chicago's inner city black gangs define "blacks". Both, however, give their racial demographic a bad name ... if we let them.
What good black people need to hear is that once all the Civil War era statues and monuments have been removed or destroyed, blacks will still be killing blacks in Chicago (and elsewhere), black children will still be being born into welfare families, black youth will still be dropping out of school, and black crime will still be rampant ... all out of all proportion to whites. Americans of Asian origin don't seem to be having those problems. Just as at some point a U.S. president has to "take ownership" and stop blaming his predecessor for our country's ills, so blacks at some point have to take a serious look in the mirror and at least balance their efforts to look backwards ... with efforts to look (and move) forwards. Physician, heal thyself!
I'm happy to condemn the KKK, neo-Nazi groups, skinheads, David Duke ... but I also condemn antifa, black bloc, and some elements of BLM. Both ends of the political spectrum have their own brand of haters ... but haters they are.

And thank you for the reference to the 'black bloc,' I had to look it up and found that there are two different meanings depending directly on context of usage. I always considered them to be the idiots out there dressed in black (no matter which side or ideology they represented) committing crime.

SSG Robert Webster - BLM is not a formal organization like, say, the NAACP. As a result, you pretty much have to take folks doing things under the guise of "BLM" at face value. Some have done so violently, most have done so peacefully. Some have done so irrationally or hatefully, most have done so rationally or at least with hope for the future. My "some elements", perhaps not the best choice of words but the best I could come up with at the time, is directed at those that claimed "BLM" status and acted violently or presented themselves irrationally or hatefully. My choice of words was a deliberate effort to recognize that it was unfair to characterize the whole of the BLM movement by the actions of some. Does that help?
