Can't argue with Nelson Mandela on the fact that race hatred is learned, but I don't see how that's relevant to the riot in Charlotville. There were a lot of white folks beating each other with clubs over some bronze statues. The only "race" I saw was those trying to get out of the way of a speeding car. Interestingly, we struggled through the whole Civil Rights Movement under the brilliant leadership of MLK who never advocated violence. Also, I have no memory of him pointing at any statue, not even one of a Confederate General, and demanding that it be torn down. No, he won the battle without ever mentioning them. So, I'm guessing that something else was going on in Charlotville, something other than race. What do you suppose it was?

I Got a Name | Jim Croce | Lyrics
Released | December 1st, 1973 Album | I Got a Name Disclaimer | I made this video is for entertainment purposes only because I love the song. Absolutely no c...
Sir, CPT Jack Durish my father was USAF (B-52 crew member) and he was a child survivor of the Holocaust. After lawfully immigrating to his new nation and when he was old enough join the USAF. He was medically retired (100% SCD) while stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL. In the 1960s/70s was an interesting time for a young man (me) born of Jewish father and Methodist mother (both who are now deceased).
Because of my last name, I took a lot of insults, and because of Jim Croce son (I got a name) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTsDT99hC_g I found comfort in hope! You are SPOT ON the MLK chose a peaceful path. If we notice, who are these hater's being led by? Definitely not men or women of faith. I am minded of another song's message - The Sound of Silence as now heard in the powerful remake by the artist Disturbed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zLfCnGVeL4).
Then I moved to the Charlottesville, VA area were my wife and no live. Thankfully, we were visiting our son and his family in Charlotte, NC that horrific weekend. Here a bumper-sticker I created that I would if more people should not display:
What do you think? I wonder if it would catch on!?!?!?!?
We should never tolerate what is and always has been intolerable: IGNORANCE!!!

Sad, but true.
To be fair though, the same will occur for simple things regarding President Trump. There is probability POTUS will at some point in time say something both Liberals and Conservatives SHOULD be able to objectively agree with. However, it will not be possible to actually do so in the comments section of that topic.

Sorry. But, I do not see this as "News worthy". It is a tweet. A carefully constructed message from his political team. It was written and released, after this incident, to have a large impact like it did.
Words are one thing. But, actions speak louder. There hasn't been a lot of examples of actions being taken to combat the tensions, from what I have seen. It's all "lip service" to make people feel better.
