So a bunch of redneck white guys get together to protest the removal of a statue, a bunch of folks who disagree with the racist white guys show up to counter protest. Now the police who are suppose to keep order let them get together and then pull back and let them go at it! Wow, sounds like the police chief and state police need to fire a few people.
There is no doubt in my mind that the white trash that showed up with sticks and shields was looking for trouble. The other side was no better showing up with pepper sprays and other weapons. So the issue at point was the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee. Why not have a vote for the citizens of the town and let them decide, after all it's their city. And a young lady may still be alive and able to live her life surrounded by friends and family.

Antifa and the neo-nazis/KKK deserve each other. I smelled bs as soon as this story hit; a "unite the right" rally supposed to bring libertarians, conservatives and trumpservatives together and someone "accidentally" invited white supremacist groups? Cmon.
I say we just give Antifa and the alt-right a spot in Nebraska to just kill each other off and let the rest of us get back to our regularly scheduled program.

I think you give these idiots too much credit. The idea that "...this was a planned confrontation meant to divide us..." is a bit of a reach. I would argue that it was planned to exploit the divide between us. The divide is the product of many factors contributing over several decades.

What most people and the media are leaving out is, over 90% of the participants on both sides were not from the area. This was a battle planned out for the media that had very little to do with the residents of Charlotte Virginia.

SGT Maria Q. - ANTIFA and BLM didn't "happen to show up." They were bused in, just like they were for every anti-Trump rally during the 2016 election campaign. Someone is footing the bill for all the motorcoaches.

SSG Diane R. - There are allegations that the police were given "stand down" orders by the city mayor. If so, then there was a deliberate plan to allow law-breaking.
