What is really going on here? I have no skin in this game. To be honest, it seems much ado about nothing. No one mentioned these statues during the Civil Rights movement. MLK never mentioned them. Indeed, the integration of our society and the success of minority groups was going great guns until we elected a biracial man who self-identified as black. Now everything has been knocked into a cocked hat. We need to right the ship of state and get back on an even keel again. We need, desperately need to cool the rancor and move forward once again. Are Civil War statues holding us back? Or is something else? Is this all just a diversion to stir the pot without any vision for fixing America? Are there people profiting from the strife? It sure seems that way, doesn't it?

It is about the overthrow of American culture by communists.. much like ISIS' over throw of the middle east... This is a basic tactic of a violent overthrow is to erase the dissidents by genocide and to tear down the institutions...

I'm OK with the solution laid out in the article. Add a plaque explaining what this guy was really about and what he fought for; keeping other human beings in bondage. The statue shouldn't be a celebration of what some likely see as a glorious past, instead make it a reminder of something we did that was shameful and should never repeat or forget.

Try to remember when these monuments were erected it was a far different time and the people were honoring their Heros of that region of the Country. The fact that the character of the people change over time is made blatantly obvious by the people who no longer believe in our Constitution and try to destroy it or change it to suite their agenda to install Communism as the form of Government!
