WWII veteran returns Japanese flag taken from fallen enemy soldier

A very nice gesture after 75 plus years carrying that burden! Thanks for your post. I still remember a number of Pacific Campaign Veterans that I've spoken with over the years that still couldn't stand the thought of buying a Japanese made auto or electronic device 40,50 and 60 years after their battles were over so seeing a Veteran able to return a flag that's a good sign!

I'm a Iraq vet here with a flag of my own that I obtained and still serving. I honestly can't stand middle eastern people back stateside for various reasons. That flag would have been a neat souvenir to pass down, but I'm sure that vet found some closure returning it.

I'm glad he reached that point, my father never stopped hating Germans.
