Actuarial smackurial. We don't need no stinkin' tables. When will We the People ever learn? The government has never run a cost effective commercial endeavor. Never! God knows they've tried beginning with George Washington (fur trading). Abraham Lincoln (Transcontinental Railroad). And countless other examples. Healthcare insurance should have been easy to avoid. We had the experience of Medicare to warn us (nothing has increased the cost of healthcare like Medicare). Don't blame the Constitution or those who crafted it. They never envisioned government getting involved beyond providing for the common defense and securing the blessings of liberty for us and our posterity.

That was the point of Obamacare, socialist medicine. Were EVERYONE pays for everyone else, regardless of their health or activity's. Lets break this down to simple numbers and car insurance. This would be like charging a 50 year old man with no history of tickets driving a 20 year old pickup truck an inflated rate to cover the cost of the 18 year old with the new mustang's deflated rate. So instead of charging the old man 100 a month and the young man 300 a month they charge both 200.
While I agree with the "existing issues clause" I think it needed to be amended, to post insurance. The reason for that clause is insurance company's were kicking people off their insurance the moment they got sick or refusing to cover things siting "Pre existing condition" The "You must cover everything" was part of the reason for the charging everyone the same. They were trying to make up for the loss from those that use it by making those that don't pay. Does a man need to be covered for an abortion? (No snowflake jokes please).
Obamacare just like welfare was designed to get people hooked on the government system, they have no need to take responsibility for their life choices or actions, someone else will foot the bill. And the left can keep getting their vote because they keep them barely afloat. Only way to fix it is cold turkey, yep people will suffer and there will be great upheaval, BUT the Nation will come out stronger for it.

Yes, agree. Self reliance can be tough, but it makes one (and the nation) stronger.

When I began debating this issue in 1960 (yes, back during Paleolithic times) I argued that if the insurance industry didn't clean up their act, government was going to clean it up for them and that we'd all really suffer then. Well, they didn't, the government did, and we are...

CPT Jack Durish - I'm a 70's vintage, thankfully I avoided a hippy name and skipped the bell bottoms phase. That being said I have always said the 60's are the root of all our woes. They brought about "free love" which is to say sex with out consequence, the idea that socialism and communes were a viable idea, that drugs were acceptable, and that the "man" was just there to bring you down. It was a Generation of narcissists so absorbed with themselves and getting stoned... sadly many of them decided to go in the education system later on and have taught future generations their idiotic hippy crap, .... I really hate hippies!!!!

Don't forget caps. If you have a long term situation you can run into the cap for insurance and no longer be covered. Out of all of Obamacare, these 2 things mean something to me, and mine. No caps, no pre-existing conditions. Even with that currently in place, we paid right around $36,000 for medical last year. $Over $12,000 for the premiums and twice that for deductibles.
Now, in my opinion, over 75% of the costs for medical care are going towards the insurance companies. Just look around your city to see if BC/BS has one whole building or multiple buildings. The admin to doctor ratio is horrible. We pay for paperwork!
