Not all are created equal. Every state has different levels of veteran benefits, and different levels of quality of service. In Washington, very few vets who go to the WA DVA for VA claims assistance fare well, so we always advise them to go to DAV or one of the other VSOs...

Very true. Virginia also has somethinf called the Joint Leadership Counsil comprised of Veterans and VSO leaders in order to advocate for Veterans to the state legislature. The Virginia legislature also has a Veterans Caucus which has been a great help. I would encourage all Veterans to get engaged in local and state government, especially if Veterans aren't well represented in your particular location.

When the DAV was to busy to represent me during a VA Judge in LA, Ca. the American Legion stepped in and took over my deceased husband case, which has been going on since 2006 and a VA Judge in 2017 decided on a few of the issues. But there are a number of outstanding issues that still that need to be settled. The issue now is that I've I been waiting over another six years waiting for a judgement on tort claim and can't any response from the VA, or the DAV. The Loma Linda VA Hospital let his BP get to low during dialysis causing a stroke
