I think the more that the President. Rings military members into his inner circle, the less crazy things he'll do. Why? Because the military is one of the very few groups that the President respects. More military folks at the top will dampen his apparent lack of political common sense.

Militarily folks tend to scerw up the political parts though since our mindset doesn't have much room for people on our side who can tell the boss to GFY and get away with it, Democracies on the other hand require that those people exist.
