The most remarkable feature is the tiny superstructure. It leaves a lot of deck available for parking aircraft and flight operations.

Big hurdle they just passed. I read that the new cats will produce less stress on airframes, which should translate to longer airframe life. Hope so, plus I never liked steam, ever, as an Engineer...

PO2 Rev. Frederick C. Mullis, AFI, CFM - Your data is probably better. I didn't see any reports, just reporting about it.

The report I read was back in JUne, I hope to hell they have fixed that problem. The other big problem was the Load Central was not up to snuff, the Computer Program was inadequate to handle the ships total electrical need, there were brown outs when one area needed a large power influx. That was a hell of a note, Two reactors that could supply more power than the 8 the Enterprise had in her belly, but the Digital distribution system could not handle the demand as well as the old analog system we had on the Enterprise. That stinks worse than the Tunisian Sea Port!

PO2 Rev. Frederick C. Mullis, AFI, CFM - I hate electrical distribution systems! Showed up to my 1st ship as CHENG, we were in the yards. The previous CHENG had done some "deals" with the yard that no one else knew about. We get underway for the first time, get clear of San Diego channel (like 150' clear), hit the 1st swell, and go completely dark! Everything shut down! Had to drop the hook just outside the channel, in view of every other ship... Long story short(er), there was a 9/16" wrench that a worker had left in one of the switchboards. Hit the first swell, it crossed an A/C breaker, and because some of our circuit breakers were the wrong type, we went dark. My sailors bronzed the wrench and put it on a plaque that I got as a going away gift when I left...

SN Greg Wright I agree, that was pretty cool stuff. Kind of eerie seeing an empty flight deck though. It was more entertaining because I had another tab open that was playing FMJ clips so as the plane was coming in for approach, in the background I heard R.Lee Ermey's Gunny Hartman in the background "I will fuck you up!" the timing was perfect.
