I don't understand how anyone would believe that Algebra is racist. The author of this editorial gives a good counter to the argument (made by a California University Chancellor) that math is somehow racist. I would say that the dumbing down of a University's curriculum only leads to dumb graduates who are ill prepared for the job market and the lessening of the actual value of a degree from their University.
One of my favorite examples of the ongoing dumbing down of America comes every time the government wants to raise taxes. For example, New Mexico recently tried to increase taxes on gasoline by five cents a gallon. Supporters of the tax tried to claim it was only a 2 percent increase in the tax (i.e. 2 additional penny's per dollar spent). However, if you understand basic math you would know that increasing the current 17 cents per gallon tax to 22 cents per gallon is a 34 percent increase in taxes not the claimed 2 percent.

How many times have we seen inner city kids succeed at difficult academic subjects when taught by a competent, motivated teacher? Simply accepting that they are inferior is a cop out. Race baiters love to toss their "Holy Handgrenade": "That's racist!" and then feel superior to the rest of us. Algebra is fundamental to an education. Don't deprive children of an education just because you're too damn lazy or incompetent to teach it.

Algebra was given to us by Muslims. That is why there is the "a" and "l" at the beginning. I suppose there are some who would think badly of that!
