I believe the question is how accurate do you have to be when using a nuclear weapon? There is sufficient evidence to cause concern about even a small nuc detonated 50 miles above the center of the country causing and EMP event that will put us all in circa 1910... Further, there seems to be little concern with the event that put a NK satellite into orbit about 24 months ago. The event itself was not notable as a satellite launch... what was of great interest is that they launched over the South Pole when the shortest distance was over the North Pole where almost all such activity takes place. So why was that significant? Glad you asked... All of our missile defenses look north over the pole as the shortest route to CONUS... a ICBM coming from the south may be a bit more troublesome. I'm not sure that the Pentagon leadership is giving this threat as much attention as it needs.
