Sandy, I'm a little out of date. I don't understand the acronyms? Besides I was just relating to what I experience. You have to watch these politicians feel make up stories about something happening to a certain group of people when is not so or they'll take one little incident and blow it up and magnifier to something that it wasn't. Remember that young lady that they fought to get an Air Force Academy back in the nineties and she end up quitting ? The constant politicians kept pushing a girl nobody bothered to ask her if she really wanted to continue on in the Air Force Academy .I think her name was Susan Smith not quite sure if that's the right name . LCpl Cody Collins - TG (transgender - more or less someone who adopts for extended periods of time the lifestyle, habits, and clothing of the opposite gender), TS (transsexual - more or less someone who is not only TG but pursues medical treatment often involving hormones and surgery to fit in better as the opposite gender). TG & TS often pursue formal processes to get some or all of their personal and identity records changed to reflect a new name and new gender - where the holders of records (birth, social security, passport, driver license, etc) are increasingly prepared to issue papers based on either a personal request - or in some instances on physician certification the requestor has pursued medical treatment (which may be psychiatry only - no hormone and no surgery) to diagnose and treat other underlaying issues - and confirm gender. SM in this instance refers to service members - nothing more was intended here. I do not remember Susan Smith - but the story is similar to many young people of either gender who get pressured to pursue parent's career - or to obtain military benefits - where these individuals ultimately become disaffected and leave - at tremendous cost. The LGBT thing is actually a lot of different communities, groups, and individuals - who do not generally agree on much of anything - other than they prefer not to be beat to death, injured, or lose out on opportunities available to anyone else - simply because they are LGBT. There are many different kinds of lesbians, many different kinds of gay men, many different kinds of bisexuals, many different kinds of TG/TS people - many of whom represent entirely different points of view about best practices in interpersonal relationships, best practices in fitting in or being entirely "out there", and even political party affiliations. Some are devout Catholics, Anglicans, Protestants, and/or Jews. Many have not come to understand their fundamental nature, how their nature impacts how they fit into our larger non-LGBT communities, and/or what they want to be in life. In the end, as I keep saying, no matter what you think or feel about an individual, their lifestyle, and their choices - everyone does what they do for a reason - the trick in the professions of psychology and psychiatry is understanding those reasons - and there is fundamental good and kindness in everyone - it sometimes takes a little longer to see it. SSG Steven Mangus, my thoughts exactly. I still have hope that sanity may yet return though.

When sanity does return, add a healthy dose of common sense and things should be back to relative normalcy..
