I guess they can say that people know more about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or the fat and useless Kardashians, but not about our American history and this goes for everyone. Good thing is that most of us here on rallypoint are history Buffs in one form or another due to our professional military upbringing.

True statement! Kardashians are a unknown point of reference to me since I don't follow their story, but when I asked a few young military friends what makes them interesting the only replies were that they had a clothing line, the dad defended OJ, and that one was married to Bruce. Reiterated their summary I stated they are famous for defending a murderer and are related to atheletes. They stated that I forgot the sex change. I'm just wondering what people spend their time thinking and conversing about daily. Do they care what is happening in their own families and communities and even further than that with the world community or are they caught up in the new soap operas, ones which are created and portrayed by the media? Maybe we need to create a new American Breakfast which starts with a dose of thankfulness for our own struggles, successes, and gifts. Thankful to be free to experience this world without the fear of constant harm.

It seems that it would do everyone, not just the left, middle, and right to re-read the Declaration of Independence and (God willing) remember why our great country was founded. Until we remember that our forefathers died and pledged their personal freedoms/liberties to the cause will we be able to protect their ideals. God Bless America.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Perhaps U.S. History needs to be revisited in primary school? When I was in school we had to know the preamble to the constitution, we were tested on all of its amendments, and we had to know the opening of the Declaration of Independence. Now people don't even recognize it. Though it is telling that people were quick to jump on it as an attack on Donald Trump. He is the President of a free nation. A nation in which people have the right to question his decisions, actions, and words. I find it ironic that people questioning the actions of elected officials is being called unpatriotic.
