My grandson brought me this picture of him at Checkpoint Charlie. The wall was gone before he was born but there is a shop at the location where you can get a black & white in front of a mural

I have seen Germany before and after the wall. The difference between East and West Germany was night and day. Now you cannot even tell where the border was.

That is great. I was offered a graduate scholarship to teach and study for an advanced degree at the University of Leipzig. That was in 1988. Seeing the wall was up and it was in a communist country, I deferred. Now I wish I had gone because the wall fell less than a year later. Choices. I think we all make the best choice for us at the time.
