When our son played football and did track, we were involved in his health and well being, if he had any strains or sprains, we made sure that he didn't cause any further damage, the coach had a fit, but it's better to have the fit than be sued for medical billing.

My daughter isn't old enough yet for me to have any incite as a parent. As for myself, when I was growing up I played as many sports as I wanted to. My parents didn't force me nor distract me from doing this. Unless it was effecting my grades in school. For me playing sports was incentive for getting good grades. When my daughter is old enough I think I will do the same.

And I grew up pretty much the same way. But the story was referring to parents and students that are pushing much more than what you and I did. The one girl was doing 7 days a week and basically burned her joints out.
