"... buying American often means creating jobs for robots, not humans" (quoting the author of that article).

This is only part true, there are still numerous positions that require a human. The large corporations rely heavier on automation than the smaller ones do not. There are still manufacturing jobs that require the human elements. But if the factory is not here we can't hire anyone. Plus if a company is in business, not only are there employees drawing paychecks there are more who benefit, the trucking/transportation companies, the material suppliers, the local businesses and all the supporting elements. So bash Trump for wanting companies to return to the USA but we need Americans working, and for that to happen we need jobs.

There is a lot missing here. Before I tear this apart, I do agree we need Americans working but specifically we need middle class working.
A corporation that invests in PP&E (plant prop and eq) isn't just going to abandon it unless the costs are long term. The company has to also build a new plant and train workers, all at a significant cost. So bringing jobs back isn't that immediate not is it that easy.
As for jobs like coal. This is disgusting. The areas asking to bring these jobs back due so at the expense of clean higher tech jobs. These areas should have and should be investing in the future. They didn't and now want to make the rest of society pay by bringing back lower income, dirty jobs.
Because of the trumps poor behavior abroad, push for protectionism, and other poor policies, visits to the us from abroad have already declined. Our society is driven by the service industry and now that's begun to crack. Fewer tourist is pushing for lay-offs in the engine of America. This is bad for the US as we struggle to stay out of a recession. But Trump has pushed us closer and closer to an economic cliff.
Finally, his tax cuts and proposals are based on the Laffer curve which has been debunked. Cutting taxes for the rich do nothing but create a greater disparity in incomes. Our tax rates are at historical lows already. When America was great the population paid their taxes. All the way up to the 90% mark that only the 1% paid.
In conclusion, wanting to have jobs return is admirable. Doing so at the expense of the middle class, cleaner and more advanced jobs, and without killing other industries is not good.
I haven't even hit the healthcare or financial issues here which are, for the most part, just as bad. Oh and his political stances. The man is an absolute fuck up along w Paul Ryan and half the GOP and half the Dems.

Well... we could debate but there is absolutely no point as your anti-Trump views would distort any real debate about job growth and economic development. I could explain how the Obamacare has been bad and actually ruined small business. How excessive government regulation and control stifles job growth. Or how bad trade deals actually hurts the USA... and all of that... but I will stick my initial argument instead...

Without business and companies operating in the USA there are no jobs. The government needs to get out of the way and let business run.
