I'm glad he's looking at stopping it. Something like this needs way more than a year to plan for. And as far as the person in the article saying that the government will pay for an inmates procedure but not a soldiers, I don't think they should pay for either. I'm sorry but I don't care if you're in the service, in prison, or just some regular person on the street, I don't want to pay for your operation with my tax dollars. If you want to be a transgender, that is 100% your choice, and that also means it is 100% your financial burden.

No way in hell would I ask a tax payer to pay for my medical needs but on that same token I am deamed a male had to sign selective service so why not join the best fighting force I know is the us military I love my country that I'm willing to sign my ass over to Uncle Sam take a chance possibly fight in a war to come home in worse case seninoero having a flag given to my brother I owe it to him my country to protect the freedoms we have our military is voluntary so not many people are joining if a person can fight let them that's all not for anything a females uniform wouldn't fit js testorone at its finest done by a diet not meds

I'm not saying don't let them serve at all. I'm saying that the plan to allow them to serve and to do it to where it doesn't make others uncomfortable needs planned and thought out. Not shoved in with a one year time frame.

Jayden Manning - I not sure if "sign your ass over" is the best choice of words here Jayden... plenty of soldiers out there willing to help out with your ass... Respectfully with humor.. :-)
I wil side with those who aren't of the mind to pay for that very personal choice. I believe they aren't wrong. I also understand how it matters to you personally. That being said you must decide your priorities in advance. I applaud your initiative and advance notice of intent. That being said, is it not more than a bit self serving to expect such an expensive procedure to be paid for at taxpayer expense?. The procedure will not improve your performance as a soldier... generally speaking.. not personally speaking.
I see a core of honesty and integrity in your question and discussion however, honesty that is often lacking in many.
By not entering the service with the unstated intention to have this medical procedure you have demonstrated integrity which many do not.
This doesn't change my opinion about financing the surgery however. Sometimes the honest approach doesn't get what we want. The honest approach does get my respect however.

Dammit Jayden. Use some damned punctuation. That whole comment was painful to read.

Jayden Manning It's admirable that you want to serve your country, and even more so that you want to be a grunt. Good luck.
