When I was in college, the wife of a deaf guy there told me about a trip they took somewhere, and when they got there, they found they couldn't communicate with the deaf people there because their sign languages were different. Whoda thunk?

More common than you'd think... would you believe regional dialects of ASL? That's why SEE is required in some places.

Sgt Wayne Wood - I totally believe it. It makes sense, since sign is an extension of the languages we speak, but it was something I had never considered before being told about it.
