COL Charles Williams you no doubt know that I'm trans and a trans activist.
A recent study showed that the cost to the military for DISCHARGING the roughly 15k active duty trans troops would come near to or exceed $1 Billion, given the costs of their training, their experience, and the costs of replacing them. This compared to a few million $ IF DOD offered Gender Confirming Surgery. As of now, DOD does not cover it, so we are primarily talking about hormones, which they already dispense to many men and women in uniform, and these are cheap.
From what I hear there is little to no disruption in the ranks from the trans troops who are openly serving.
Trump is using this as a diversion from the hot seat he is on with his Russia entanglements, along with all the global messes right now.
IF we do get into a shooting war with NK, do you really want to kick out a bunch of highly skilled, trained and ready troops?

This is a hot subject, I personally would have no problem serving with either group. I had a brother that served in active duty, that was gay, he served with honor and distinction.

Well you didn't get too much feedback on your initial inquiry of RP members on the issue. Now things have played out over the past few months as some thought they might. I find it interesting that despite all the hoopla on the issue, I can't quite figure out where Mad Dog stands on the issue. He seems to have exercised consummate political skill in navigating the political waters without coming out with his own personal or professional opinion.
