Never had a FB account. No interest in seeing what you had for dinner, your new hair color, opinion on "The Housewives", how wonderfully social you are, or how grand your life is. Not REAL! Much prefer RP -at least we have meaningful thought provoking conversations. Jack of course the "you" is not you...

I know that many people use Facebook for all those silly things you mention. But there are others that aren't silly. There are groups of veterans and we used Facebook to keep in touch. Sure, we could use RP, but we were using FB before there was an RP and it would be hard to reconstitute our groups on RP now. Also, more videos are shared on FB than on YouTube and I'm talking about just cat videos

Col Dona Marie Iversen I started up again with fb after bailing for the very reasons you describe. Now I only have about 4-5 'friends' who are people I can talk to on a personal level and share the day to day in lieu of earthshaking events or heavy conversations. Most of our lives are lived in the day to day and I enjoy being able to get to know people who were otherwise strangers. Also the 'chat' feature of fb is an excellent tool for one on one private and intimate conversations. You can also talk directly over the site and do face time I believe, but I don't have a camera on my monitor. Sometimes even a few words come in very handy.Otherwise we have private messages and email to keep in touch which I also appreciate greatly.
