Why aren't we? The Kurds are the only ones in the region who seem to have the gumption to stand up for themselves and are willing to live in peace with those around them so long as they are left in peace. Oh, right. That would offend our "ally", Turkey.

Agreed. Too bad we allowed our dealings with the Iraqi government also prevent us from properly arming the Kurds.

PO1 John Crafton - Yes, that which we supplied to the Iraqis largely fell into enemy hands. The Taliban? Most likely those weapons wouldn't have fallen into enemy hands if we didn't make enemies of them. They were grateful for the assistance we gave them in driving out the Soviet occupiers. However, we then walked away leaving the way clear for Osama Bin Laden to do what we should have done (help them rebuild). [BTW, I think 2 and 3 are really one, aren't they?]

PO1 John Crafton - I can't argue. We left them, what, twice before? Third time's a charm?

Correct, its not the Pentagon. Typically, this type of program comes from government agencies with three letter initials. I wouldn't attempt to guess which one it is.
