I saw a piece from that "Friendly Atheist " just a few days back. He showed himself to be so ignorant of the Bible, and his arguments so clearly flawed, that I think the Silly Atheist would probably fit him better.

1) I have seen things science can't explain. A young man in a car wreck. A lot of brain damage pretty much considered to be long term rehab with mental deficits. His family prayed and loved and cared. He was back in college that fall.
2) My son had a first grade class mate that was hit by a garbage truck during summer break. The Doctors declared him brain dead. Disconnected him from the ventilator to die. Long story short he was back in school that fall whole and sound.
3) The world is much different with Christianity than with out. Christianity ended slavery, has fought disease and poverty in third world countries and changed cultures for the better. The gladiatorial games ended because of Christianity to name one event.

LTC David Brown - well, in the first place, one could own slaves without stealing or kidnapping them. Second, there are numerous places in the New Testament where slaves are instructed to obey their masters. As for articles, try these:

Capt Gregory Prickett - good grief. 20 years ago leaving a baby to die was murder. Today you can leave a viable baby to die or kill it after live birth abortion attempt. Culture, society and world views change. Imagine that. Two thousand years ago slavery was a universal accepted fact. It wasn’t even questioned. I am not a scholar on the subject but it is my understanding The writers of the New Testament were concerned about the lives of the Saints. Look what happened to Spartacus and his group. Potential slave rebellion was a continuous worry to slave holders so rebellion was treated harshly. Christianity was already undergoing persecution. Adding slave rebellion would not be a good thing. New Testament writers encouraged slave holders to be just. In God’s Kingdom there is neither slave nor free. It speaks to an equality of persons. Gee why did Christians act against slavery? We can argue this for eternity so I will agree to disagree. You do need to understand that slavery was pretty much a universally accepted world wide institution. The seeds of its demise was rooted in Christianity.

LTC David Brown - What a load of crap. In any of the 50 states, killing a baby that has been born or otherwise taken out of the womb is still murder, and anyone who says differently is not telling the truth. Yes, I know a bunch of anti-abortionists have said that, but they are wrong.

Second, you supposed god is also supposed to be unchanging. Was he wrong in the Old Testament, when he allowed slavery and even gave instructions on where to buy slaves? And if he wasn't wrong, why did he have to correct it in the New Testament (which never really happened)?

As to slavery being "universally accepted", are you saying that your god could tell people not to eat shellfish, but was too weak to tell them not to own slaves?

You are correct on abortion, my mistake. Can’t speak for God, but it did seem a good point in history for slavery to end and the seeds for it were in the Bible. God allowed people a lot of thinks in the Old Testament that we perceive as wrong. Jesus said of divorce “God allowed it because of your hardness of heart”.

I had rather believe in GOD and be wrong, than not believe in GOD and be wrong.

SP5 Dave (Shotgun) Shockley - which god do you believe in? Because you could believe in the Christian God, but if Allah, or Yahweh, or Vishnu, or Shiva, or Odin, or any of the thousands of other gods is the correct, real god, you're just as screwed as I am.

The position you are taking is known as "Pascal's Wager" and has been debunked for a long time.

No I believe in the one GOD I have since I was about 6 years old. My faith stands on its own with no need for Pascal's Wager or Schrödinger's cat or what ever name that may come up.  The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. I believe the Bible is the inerrant WORD of GOD. I can't convince you, and that is my sorrow. Maybe this will help. http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/answers.html

SP5 Dave (Shotgun) Shockley - you just offered Pascal's Wager, whether you want to call it that or not. As to the Psalms 14:1 quote, I refer you to this rebuttal: http://freelink.wildlink.com/fallacy.php

You said that you believe the Bible is the inerrant word of god. OK, do you have any evidence to support that assertion?

Finally, I'm not impressed with Deem, I've seen his website and feeble attempt at apologetics before. See https://barry-hampe-i-am-an-atheist-settings.quora.com/Analysis-of-the-Website-of-Rich-Deem
