What irks me on the Air Force side of things is that units assigned to AFSOC must deploy for SOF missions, which make perfect sense. However, we are also sent to non-SOF deployments on top of that. There is enough SOF deployments to keep us busy all year. Sending us on ACC or AMC deployments really wears folks out.
The solution seems easy enough. Either cut down the deployments or add more troops.

Is this really such a surprise? It has almost always been like this in SF and Rangers. The sad part about it, is the mal-utilization of both the SF and regular forces and the flipping of their roles.
What do you expect when you are being used as LEO/Police instead of soldiers? Take a look at the pattern of use over the past 20+ years. Also look at the use it or lose it mind set in the US Government, that has been there a very long time.

I would argue that a lot of the current missions could be done with non-SOF troops.

SMSgt Thor Merich - Isn't that what I said when I said "the flipping of their roles?"
Thanks for the thumbs up.
