Protect yourself from infected ticks carrying life-threatening Powassan virus

We get lime disease out here from the dear ticks! I've already met a few people who have been effected by it. Nasty business.

Sgt Kelli Mays One of these almost killed my brothers dog. He takes him up in the mountains once a week for a hike and several weeks ago he noticed a huge sist on the Dog's neck. Took him into the Vet just in time and had it lanced and there was BAD Tick embedded int he Dog's skin and infected bad. He is on antibotics and close watch to make sure the Tic wasn't carrying the virus. Got our fingers crossed. Vheck yourself after being in the woods - something all soldiers do when they come out of the field. SOP.

Thank you for the warning and the info. I always tuck my pants into my boots when going thru brush and weedy areas. Chiggers are another thing to watch out for, nasty little pains.
