Actually the stuff most girl scout troops now aren't much fun. I tried gettingnmy daughter invovled mbut she was not interestd in their activities. They never camped out or learned those kinds of skills. It is too bad because when I was younger I had fun at girl scout camp. We did arts and crafts but also learned camping and hiking skills. It was fun as well as a learning experience. The only thing good about them now is the cookies!

MSgt (Join to see) Well that does kind of Suck. My Mother was a Leader of a Troop at the Church in Lebanon IL when I was little more than a Toddler.

Each Troop or Region is a bit different. My family did Girl Scouts with our girls for about 13 years and because of the ever-present shortage of leaders, my wife always ended up being a leader. That made it easy to focus the activities towards what we thought were important. We did do some arts and crafts things, some cooking and baking, but really, we went for the hiking, the camping, the outdoor skills, navigation (day and night), shopping skills, and vehicle care and maintenance.

Like any program - it is what you make it.

Who cares? Two private organizations that will no longer work together, the Church has that right.
