To think these Men had to go overseas to other countries to even be accepted despite their excellent combat records while nothing changed for them at home in the United States. That badly needed to be corrected especially as they proved they were more than willing to fight and die for their country. No to use the skills and take advantage of their Patriotism just made no sense at all. These Men were Americans and were willing to and did respond to the call to arms.
