After posting I realized others had posted before. Didn't know about the movies, so thanks for sharing. I love the old movies, and especially if they have a historical basis. There's an oldie about the Marine Raiders in WWII called Gung Ho that's worth the watch. FDR's son was XO of one of the Raider BN's, but I don't remember if he was mentioned in the movie. I had a neighbor at Camp Lejeune that was a retired Raider and served in many campaigns. His name was Sgt Maj John Carson. He raised US and USMC flag daily in his front yard. He never talked about service but was highly decorated, SSM's etc. No doubt he's no longer with us. On Okinawa in 90's we had a talk from another retired Raider, MGySgt DeLoach that had retired on Oki. I told him about Carson and he remembered him, and told me to say hello from an old Dog Company Marine. The Delta Companies were the heavy weapons companies in BN's then. As to topic, the underground played vital roles in WWII, and especially the French. Force multipliers for sure. SF has done it for years with great success.
