An Infantry Officer told me once that if you take care of your feet they will take care of you! Improper fitting shoes and/or footwear can lead to disaster. If they look good but hurt your feet get rid of them.

I took my two sons to Philmont High Adventure Camp in New Mexico when they were Boy Scouts. Bought hiking boots at Dick's Sporting Goods in Minneapolis, MN for my son Tyler while we were hiking and training for the trip and they didn't fit properly. He was near tears because something wasn't right with those boots. I figured they would break in after he wore them for awhile but they didn't. We stopped in Castle Rock, CO and bought some different boots from a sales person who understood proper fit and he wore them for nearly 250 miles of hiking and never had a complaint at all.
