This article hits home. I am two years into my first job out of the military and I am still learning. TAP classes don't come close to preparing you. Customs and Courtesies is also non existent in the civilian world, many --especially younger co workers don't even look you in the eyes IF they speak to you. I would recommend that you read up on civilian verses military culture prior to separating or retiring.--It's a shock to the system. Thanks for posting Teri.

Honestly, a lot of co-workers/civilians, as you mentioned, could learn good habits like eye contact, work ethic, etc. - things that are lacking sometimes! I think a blending of the two "worlds" gives learning opportunities to everyone. I love the discussion here, and hearing your opinion!

I've been out for 12 years and the biggest thing that I have found is the work ethic. Get the job done right the first time and move on, don't put it off till later.
