HERE'S WHAT IS INVOLVED:
VETERANS MARCH ON: America
Veterans March On: America wishes to facilitate the safe expression of constitutionally protected speech while spreading our message. We want to work in partnership with our local communities to hold a safe and peaceful event in every locale. The following items are things that we recommend you do to ensure a safe event.
**Go to your local media outlets websites and email the press release, include locations/routes and your contact info in the email, and follow up with phone calls**
Initial Planning:
o Determine locations/routes. Have a backup plan. (I suggest keeping routes short to encourage attendance by all)
o Familiarize yourself with local laws
o Build a local Facebook business page. See post by Gene Walsh for instructions. Post regularly.
o Distribute printed or PDF Flyers (we will have these available in PDF)
Go to your local City and State Website:
o Download and complete forms
o File them at the appropriate Departments (Police, City, County, State)
o Determine costs, if any, and get with us to help figure out how to cover those.
Contact the local Permit Office and Police Department and Provide:
o Purpose of event
o Local POC information (organizer info)
o Date(s) and time of event
o Location(s)
o Route of march, if planned
o Estimated attendance
o Organizing person or group
o Number of organizers
o How to identify and contact organizers/monitors at the event (hats, shirts, armbands, PT Belts, Etc.)
o What will they be wearing?
o Will they have mobile phones?
When advertising on social media:
o Inform people of date, time and location
o Encourage peaceful expression and lawful behavior by attendees
o Discourage certain items from being brought to the event (encourage compliance with ALL local laws)
During the Event:
o Make organizers/monitors visible through clearly identifiable clothing (PT Belt?)
o Coordinate at the event with uniformed officers, they will help facilitate the event
o Stay on your planned march route, if applicable
o Maintain communication with officers throughout the event and notify them of any change in plans
o Designate someone who is comfortable speaking with the press to memorize talking points and
DO NOT allow the press to take you off topic.

Just putting it out there to give a little backstory: A small group of us started Veterans March On: America with a singular idea in mind. Yes, we have a number of issues that we concentrate on, but the accomplishment of this is the real task. How do we do that? We do the one thing that NOBODY has ever managed before. We unite ALL Veterans, Military, and their families into one voice that says get this done. That's 26.1 million men and women AND their families. That's a pretty strong voter base. As we've moved forward, I was approached by Mr. Steve Durgin about the possibility of a merger. Two entities...same fight...same mindset. Uniting Veterans to get it done. Then I found out that COL Mikel J. Burroughs was involved. Sold. It was pretty much just a matter of working out details from there. We're now a team, and a part of Victory for Veterans, and will be even stronger. This is not a "one and done" project. This march on May 20th is us introducing ourselves. We are already in the early stages of planning future events (sorry, OPSEC demands I not go into detail on that yet).

That sounds like a fantastic project and one that could really get veteran issues out there. We hear so much news on fake news, who is wire tapping whom, and whose confirmation is shutting down that positive vets issues are what the public needs to hear!
