...or likely to be involved in the future. Interesting article. DoD acquisition has a track record of allowing the tail to wag the dog. Intolerable when nearly 2/3 of federal spending is wrapped up in entitlements. I'm not confident DoD is prepared to absorb Trump's spending increase, much less direct funds away from the tail and focus on current operational realities. No question DoD desperately needs modernization, but then what? Be interesting to see if programs such as the SFABs gain more traction in the future.

Good article, very articulate (hate to take a break and lick windows for a bit), but I completely agree. The chance for large scale conflicts are continuing to drop.

I concur, but not knowing how long it takes to create smaller task-forces (or brigades, or whatever they need), not sure if the focus/mission may change in the near future.

You have to pill those smaller sized TFs out of bigger units... and a GCC has to do a request for forces that is for such. So they pull apart units to make a unit and do so again and again never applying the expertise gained back to the problem. Do a war time force that allows you to do more than refight the first year of a war 15 years old instead of the peacetime model that we have. Big Army iis just now creating Training BDEs...... but would it not have been easier to stand a force up that provides the FID needs.... and trains and works with all its supporting enhancement pieces?

That should have said pull - but pill does kind of work in Global Force Management....

LTC Eric Udouj - Thanks for the insight sir, but would you say it's feasible still?

Outside of the USMC structure - what we have now means you get an ADHOC force instead of one that has worked together before they get to where ever..... looks great on paper though.. task organization is a challenge with BCT organization when you do need only parts of it
