This comment seems to get to part of the heart of matter.

"In a country where four in 10 adults have guns in their homes, the raids incite predictable collisions between forces that hurtle toward each other like speeding cars in a passing lane — officers with a license to invade private homes and residents convinced of their right to self-defense."

That's in addition to the idea that we are willing to sacrifice innocent citizens lives in pursuing arrests in drug cases. This is a reasonably predictable outcome.

I WORKED NARCOTICS IN DETROIT MY WHOLE CAREER, RAIDING TWICE (2) A DAY EVERYDAY!!! I SAW DRUGS, GUNS, AND MORE MONEY THAN I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE OR PROBABLY EVER WILL. DRUGS WILL NEVER BE ACCEPTED BY ME ILLEGALLY OR LEGALLY. RAIDS LASTED APPROX. 2-3 MINS-PAPERWORK 6 HOURS!!! LOL THANKS GOD NONE OF MY MEN WERE NEVER HURT, WE USUALLY HURT OUR SELVES, CUTS, BRUISES, CAR ACCIDENTS, BUT NOTHING MAJOR.

I type in all caps on my home computer! If you think raiding twice a day is losing, then you should have been in Detroit from 86 to 94 after that we forced drug dealers to change the methods and most either went to jail or were ran out of the city. The forfeited items were handled by our Forfeiture Unit. Get the wrong people? We conducted surveillance prior to the raid and during the raid!
