I would agree with getting rid of free health care for life for congress, but I believe everyone working should be entitled to healthcare as part of their jobs, (congress included).

LCDR, they have the same healthcare coverage as any Federal employee, good but not all that great. My wife works as staff at a university and her coverage is better.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - You're correct. It's called the Federal Employees Health Insurance Program. But the benefit federal employees get from costs comes from the fact that government employees form a large pool. This enables federal employees to have wider choices and more flexibility in costs. Unfortunately, that can't be applied to an entire country of citizens/residents without a mandate that creates a large pool. Oh the irony.

MAJ James Woods - I agree, I was just pointing out that the Congress-critters do not have a special luxury insurance plan.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Concur. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of Congressmen like Ryan whom wants us to believe a mandate doesn't lower costs but that's exactly what the mandate for Federal employees does.

Awesome read. The Congress whom public service was considered a self sacrifice to ensure the Country and it's citizens always came first became extinct during the dawn of the Industrial era as the concept of capitalism, free enterprise, quid pro quo had grown to massive proportions of political corruption. Introducing laws that only benefit them knowing no one outside of Congress can nor will even try and rectify it.

I agree with the rest, that Congress, the Senate, and including the President, should know less, share their Healthcare program with us veterans. What they and most people forget, is that they are in those offices to serve us, the people. Their stronghold over us needs to be depleted, so that their activities are congruent to the people's wishes. We put our lives on the line at times, and deserve much better.
