The article notwithstanding, as I see it our problem is also magnified in your and often my opening statement COL Charles Williams . We feel the need to have to quantify, justify, or label any truth we find as Conservative or Liberal. The truth doesn't and never has subscribed to a political ideology or slant and while we all may not like where that truth comes from or who says it, it doesn't make it any less true

SSG Michael Hartsfield You are right, but it seems here in social media, or in general folks decide, before they read, what their approach angle will be. Or, they decide not to read it, based on the source. I try to read a variety of spins and sources and decide what I think, based on the information available from all sides. As an an example, in general I check CNN, FNC, Drudge, Realclearpolitics, and Vice News... and branch out from there. And of course ESPN.

I have posted things previously, and could sense from comments, folks don't read them, because of the source, but still decide to comment.

SSG Michael Hartsfield: Well said. It's an unfortunate reality that we need to persuade people to open their minds to a different perspective. Truth is not the problem; it's how folks interpret the truth to meet their political ideology.

SSgt Michael Hartsfield: That is very well stated, deciding what is or isn't true based on Liberal or Conservative approach doesn't alter what actually is the truth. It seems the truth is often not easy for people to accept, denial takes a lot less courage to admit the facts are correct even if it doesn't line up with Your own or a groups version.

The first thing one needs to remember is that the story came from a Liberal mag which means most all points that are reached in the article are suspect and would need to be researched independently to find who came to them and if they are slanted to the left, right or if they are actually factual. The term they used "Trump’s bleak view of America" told me a lot about the whole article and after reading the entire thing it did not disappoint. it was a liberal piece of trash that was a great waste of my time. Anyone who has done any honest research knows why many Churches are empty, and it has to do with Liberalism and the Ecumenical movement. It really started to build up in 1966 when the American Bible Society published a movern translation of the New Testament called Good News For Modern Man. Many people thought this was so great until you started to read it and the WORD was changed and the meaning was bastardized. This was part of the Ecumenical Movement of bringing the Churches into the Modern World. Changing GOD's Word, Changing the teaching of the WORD from the pulpit making it a nicer and more friendly subject. Baptism is no longer required, Holy Communion is done once a quarter if then instead of every Sunday, Many Pastors do not believe in the Virgin Birth of Christ, that the Bible is the WORD of GOD, and that Jesus Lives! Would YOU go to a Church that the Pastor, Reverend or Priest could not answer YES to those three questions? I couldn't and didn't

Churches are supposed to be pillars of the Community. New families want places that they can come to with their children to help stabilize the nuclear family unit and help strengthen the foundation that the family can be built on. The Church becomes the extended Family. Dozens of Aunts and Uncles and even additional Grandparents, when they are not close by. It can be a beautiful and loving place for all involved, but only if it is a Bible believing GOD inspired Church.

As foor why we flocked to Trump? we saw a Man who believed in GOD we saw a Christian in Pence. Something we did not see in Obama. Obama was no more a Christian than I am a Venusian. He is a Muslim pure and simple, and anyone who refuses to accept that is only fooling themselves.

America is One Nation under GOD! Always has been, always will be. We are NOT a Muslim nation and the Muslims have not done a hell of a lot to build this nation. Obama was blowing smoke up whoever's ass that will believe him. (Atlantic readers)

I respect your comments, faith and service to this great nation. Am I to understand that your definition of the First Amendment - Religion and Expression. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereo..., to mean America is exclusively Christian? If so, this sounds strikingly similar to Islamic rhetoric currently being espoused by ISIS. Except of course, they want to kill us...

Did you see that anywhere in what I said? If you did you need to go to the VA and get some glasses. I have friends who are Druids, Wiccans, Agnostics and those who practice Native American Earth Magick. I answered a question with what I know to be facts. but by the way you immediately jumped on my response with venom, your actions are strikingly similar to a Liberal Democrat who refuses to accept any beliefs other than his own. (I hope I am wrong there) AS for America being Christian, ok YES America is a Christian Nation, founded on Judaeo Christian Principles. Look at the Supreme Court and see who is standing holding the 10 commandments on the east Facade. Those are not the Pokemon characters up there. Its Moses, and he is also in the House of Representatives and the Library of Congress. Oh did you also know that Mohammad was also in the Supreme Court? CAIR fought like hell to have him sand blasted off the wall. but back to my point. Look at any of your money that you have been paid for the duration of your career in the ARMY each piece has IN GOD WE TRUST printed or engraved on it. We are more a Christian nation than an Islamic nation like Obama said. All our Founding Fathers believed in one supreme being, GOD. they may not have been religious but they knew who had Blessed the Republic and if you read their papers, you will see that.

AS I am not in Congress, I can express my thoughts all I want freely without any fear of repercussions. That sarge is what Freedom of Speech is all about. People can worship anywhere they want to, that is their prerogative. Just like some people drive Fords or Chevrolet's, the same goes for some people like the Cowboys and some like the Falcons,

Everything needs to be taken in perspective, its more a shuffling of churches than anything else. This article explains that "The percentage of people identifying as Protestant has declined since the 1970s while the total number of Protestants has increased (62 percent of Americans identified as Protestant in 1972 and only 51 percent did so in 2010). Yet because of the population increase in the U.S., there were 28 million more Protestants in 2010 than in 1972." I also believe the Catholic Church has seen similar growth in the US, especially with the influx of migrants from Mexico and South America.
