People thought he would change? That's unfortunate.

People don't change.

PFC Jim Wheeler - That is more charitable than the idea that people voted for him knowing he would remain a sleazy huckster with mental problems.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - I'm going to believe that they expected change. To believe otherwise would make them irredeemable in my eyes.

I've watched Young Turks on occasion and my view is they should rename the show to Young Marxists. Truth in labeling and why give the Turks a bad name they do not deserve.

Well, there is a little more to the story here. first, Shulkin was confirmed by a 100-0 vote in the senate. Here is an excerpt from a CBS news story on his confirmation.

"Senators voted 100-0 to approve the former Obama administration official, who was the VA’s top health official since 2015, in a rare show of bipartisanship amid partisan rancor over Trump’s other nominees. Shulkin secured the backing of Senate Democrats after pledging at his confirmation hearing to always protect veterans’ interests, even if it meant disagreeing at times with Trump."

He was/is fully supported by both parties. He is not some Trump Crony as the story might make you think. He has been on the job 30 days or so and the entire VA isn't fixed. Imagine that, he didn't show up with a magic wand and say abracadabra. 8 years of neglect an broken promises, can he get a little time please?

The Young Turks Network are the same losers from Air America, anyone remember that failed venture with no listeners? I didn't think so. They are trying to use the absence of a meeting to create a story of a lack of support. No one believes that except the brainwashed left who want it to be true.

The American Legion is becoming/has become an organization always looking to government for it's problems. It will probably be extinct in a generation or two. It's membership has fallen from 3.1 million to 2.4 million, a 22% decline in the last 20 years. Likely in part because of the non stop whining.

Perhaps because the Number of vets who qualify for membership is dropping off at the same rate, mostly because the largest group of the are dying off of old age. Do you have any evidence at all that it is not simple mortality involved and is probably politics or is that just an "alternative fact"

You might not realize it that WWII and Korea vets are dying off rapidly and Vietnam vets are starting to do so and those are most of the Legions membership, they are most of the veterans for that matter.

You just stated all those points and didn't address the comment at hand. Just like Paul Ryan, blowing stuff off.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - You must be one of the whiney members of the American Legion that doesn't want to know/hear the truth. There is plenty of information about how the Legion is not gaining membership because younger veterans do not go there or identify with them. It is true that older members are dying off but they are not getting share of younger veterans because there are more/different options.
