Navy: Decommissioned Carrier Independence Leaves for Texas Scrapyard Saturday

When I was a fifth grader, I used to collect all kinds of model ships. One of the six aircraft carrier models I had in my room was the USS Independence. It's sad to see this aircraft carrier get towed to get scrapped. Why didn't she become a museum ship?

I had models of the Enterprise, Nimitz, Yorktown, Midway, and a few other Navy ships when I was in middle school years. Always enjoyed the ships that the Navy had. My brother was on the USS Ranger carrier in the late 80s.

Your model Fleet was very similar to my fleet. I had the Forrestal, Ranger, Enterprise and the War 2 Yorktown. Your brother was lucky to be on the Ranger period I had a college friend who was a nuke on the Enterprise before he went to college.

Thanks for alerting us LTC (Join to see) that USS Independence aircraft carrier has left Texas and is headed to the scrapyard after being decommissioned.
