Great video. Although I do not believe we will prove out "warp" drive before we need to leave Earth, it may not be required for us to (eventually) land on and populate a distant planet. Our first trip must be sub-light speed and so we'll need a "generational" spacecraft. This would have to be very massive to provide protection from radiation, and large enough to allow say 50 families (a diversity of genetic material) to live and die through several generations (hundreds to thousands of years) to get to the destination planet.

A form of hibernation/suspended animation would be better than a generational ship IMHO. No genetic drift. No loss of knowledge over the years. No cultural drifts/downward spirals. Just the occasional wake-up of some personnel to monitor progress and fix worn stuff.
