I never understood why we give the public information about various intelligence agencies, especially the technical intelligence orgs. Do you realize the promotion I can get if I could get the same info from major foreign countries. Countries intelligence analysts can poor over these numbers and make intelligent assessments. The funny thing is that giving the same info to the public, most of us have trouble with our own budget, let alone understanding the NRO budget. We have done some stupid things in the past, and it did not help our American security.

Amazing that stuff like this can be obtained via FOIA or even worse that it is routinely released. Every little tidbit makes it easier to put the pieces together. There are some things the public has no need to know. They may seem insignificant but in the right hands can be exploited by bad actors. Spending or a budget can be very meaningful to someone that understands how to interpret them.
